From the world of catering to construction estimating, Monica’s career journey is a true testament to adaptability, curiosity, and the power of hard work.
Starting in customer service, Monica climbed the ladder from Catering Assistant to Front of House Manager, collecting multiple awards along the way for her dedication—like the Extra Special Recognition Award and nominations for Service Excellence and Teamwork.

When the pandemic shifted the catering industry, Monica embraced change. In 2020, she joined TudorMay as an Estimating Surveyor Apprentice—just five months later, she was promoted to Junior Estimator. Fast forward to 2025, and she’s now thriving as a Senior Estimator, leading major projects with precision and pride.

🔍 What does a day in her role look like?
Her mornings start with reviewing emails, organising project folders, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. The rest of the day is a mix of reviewing specifications, doing take-offs, and sending quote requests—all while juggling calls and collaborating with colleagues. Organisation and attention to detail are her superpowers.

🏗 Most proud project?
“Definitely my first: Buckle Street Aparthotel. As a Junior, I managed a £1.2 million project for Bennett Construction—it came with complexities and addendums, but it marked a turning point in my confidence and experience.”

💡 What might surprise you about her role?
“It’s not just about take-offs. It’s critical thinking, product research, document analysis, and spotting opportunities for cost savings.”

🎧 How she stays calm under pressure:
Time management, open communication—and a little Mozart. “Turkish March always helps reset my mind.”

💬 Advice to women considering construction careers?
“Break free from stereotypes. Be confident, be yourself, and know your value. No one knows everything—we all keep learning.”

🌿 Outside of work?
Monica enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and relaxing in her garden, her favorite little escape.
