A Safety-First Culture as Christmas Approaches
With Christmas on the horizon, our Health & Safety Manager, Gary Holmes, has been busy — bouncing between our worksites to deliver his engaging housekeeping presentation. This forms the final phase of our 2025 Health & Safety Initiative, reinforcing just how vital every operative’s role is in maintaining safe, efficient, and well-organised working environments.
On Site: Bringing Housekeeping to Life at Camden Goods Yard & Renshaw’s Yard

Last week, Gary visited the team working on the Camden Goods Yard development. His session there was both practical and informative — and the feedback was excellent. This week, he continued his tour at the Dandara Living development at Renshaw’s Yard in Staines. In both cases, the same core message was delivered: housekeeping isn’t optional — it’s fundamental.
The consistent engagement and positive response across both sites speaks volumes about our teams’ commitment to working safely, responsibly, and professionally.

Why Housekeeping Matters — More Than Just Tidiness
Good housekeeping doesn’t just make sites look neat. It significantly helps to:
- Reduce safety risks: clear walkways, properly stored materials and tools, prompt waste removal all mitigate common hazards such as slips, trips, falls, or falling objects.
- Prevent fire hazards and health issues: eliminating debris, dust, combustible material or waste helps reduce fire risk and potential exposure to harmful substances.
- Increase efficiency and productivity: when everything is in its place, teams waste less time searching for tools or materials; workflows are smoother and more predictable.
- Support a strong safety culture and morale: a clean, organized environment sends a clear message that safety is taken seriously; it also fosters pride, responsibility and teamwork across the workforce.
Housekeeping isn’t a low-priority “nice to have.” It is a core pillar of site safety, compliance, productivity and staff wellbeing.
Our Teams’ Response & Looking Forward
We’re proud to report that both our Camden Goods Yard and Renshaw’s Yard teams have responded positively to the initiative, embracing the housekeeping standards with genuine enthusiasm and professionalism. As we move into the new year, we remain committed to maintaining these standards, ensuring every site remains safe, organised, and efficient.
A big thank you to Gary for his dedication and leadership, and to every operative for actively participating and embedding this safety-first mindset across all projects.
